Important ideas too often remain confined to lecture halls, specialist journals and academic conferences. ARK brings rigorous scholarship into accessible, intellectually serious public conversation.
We translate research into public understanding without diluting its complexity, enabling knowledge to inform civic debate, community leadership and practical action.

The people behind ARK
Dr. Hasnain Walji
Founding Director
Dr. Hasnain Walji is an author, educator, historian, documentary filmmaker, and social entrepreneur with a longstanding commitment to interfaith engagement, cultural understanding, and peacebuilding. He serves as Executive Director of the United Global Initiative, is a member of the Advisory Board of North American University, and has participated in the National Catholic-Muslim Dialogue and other interfaith and peacebuilding initiatives in the United States and internationally.
He also collaborates with the House of Muhammad Studies Track at Harvard Divinity School, bringing scholarship into conversation with contemporary questions of faith, identity, and society. Through the ARK Initiative, he seeks to connect scholarship, storytelling, dialogue, and civic engagement to deepen understanding, build trust, and strengthen relationships across faiths and communities.
Siraj Narsi
Founding Director
Siraj Narsi is President of the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston and serves on the executive and advisory boards of several nonprofit and community organizations. He has been actively involved in civic and community engagement, helping strengthen connections across Houston’s diverse cultural and social landscape.
He is also an emerging filmmaker, having produced the independent American science-fiction film Cerebrum. His interests span community leadership, creative storytelling, and initiatives that encourage dialogue, collaboration, and greater understanding among people of different backgrounds.
A society in which people of faith and conscience can confront difficult truths, resist hatred and work together without surrendering their deepest convictions.
That vision requires more than goodwill. It requires relationships strong enough to survive disagreement, and institutions patient enough to build them.
